At the recent British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) Winter meeting, we were honoured to sponsor renowned Professor Scott Levin.

Prof Levin had the audience gripped as he presented the inaugural Mercian/S&T Micro Surgery lecture at Winter BAPRAS. Currently Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, Levin's expertise focuses on surgery of the hand and upper extremities.

Levin's talk was inspiring as he regaled the audience with tales from giants of surgery who influenced him during his career to pursue his pioneering methods. He is responsible for developing the new field of Orthoplastic Surgery, which he touched upon.

During his presentation at BAPRAS, he also explained the importance of cross cooperation between surgical specialities in limb reconstruction and transplantation, particularly those of Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery Specialities.

Prof Levin's talk recognised the important role played by the innovators at S&T, who have developed new Micro Surgery Instruments for the advanced techniques he employs.
